Birthday 2012 at Carnegie Hall

Yesterday was my granddaughter's third birthday (no didn't see or hear, but sent oodles of loving thoughts into the ether anyway)

Today is MY birthday (go ahead, sing the song....I'll wait!)

Thank you!

I'm 39 again, of course and no one could have had a better early birthday prezzie than me. Last night my dear friend took me to a 3-star Michelin Italian restaurant in Manhattan where Irving Fields, the piano player from the old Plaza hotel is in residence. (yep, still alive at 96 and just published a book of his life).

As a surprise, Irving wrote and sang an original song for me.

After a flaming Bananas Foster for two, and a candle to blow out whilst listening to svelte tuxed waiters singing me happy, we were off to the surprise event, a practically front row box seat for "The Music of the Rolling Stones - Hot Rocks 1964-1971" at Carnegie Hall.

Yes - THE Carnegie Hall.

This was a benefit event where a different star singer/group sang each song from the album, in order. And the singers included the likes of Ronnie Spector, Peaches, Rich Robinson (The Black Crowes), Juliette Lewis, Ian Hunter & The Rant Band, David Johansen (New York Dolls), Marianne Faithfull, Steve Earle, Art Garfunkel, Jackson Browne, Gomez, Glen Hansard (Academy Award best Original Song for "Once"), Angelique Kidjo, Rickie Lee Jones, Taj Mahal & his daughter, Rosanne Cash, Carolina Chocolate Drops, The Mountain Goats, Marc Cohn......and produced by Michael Dorf.

A standing ovation for, and with, everyone involved for a magnificent evening!!!
