Daddy, Mommy, Baby, Big Brother, and Grandma doing fine!
Quite a surprise....mommy called me at 1:15 pm on Friday and said "Come get Travis". Seems she had gotten on the train to take him to a casting in NYC and went into labor 10 minutes later. So it was straight to the doctors office as soon as they got into the city (just a few blocks from my office). She was already at 5 cm (for you guys - that's halfway there!!). I picked up Travis and brought him back to the office while daddy went to pick up mommy and get her to the hospital. They arrived there about 2:30, and I was on the train home with Travis by 4:00.
When I got off the train 40 minutes later there was a picture on my phone.....Kayla was born at 4:02. Apparently she pushed three times and out she popped happy as Larry. Mommy was eating a Turkey Burger and fries by 4:30 !!!!
We traipsed into the city Saturday to see "baby sister" who got a name just before she went home on Sunday.
Why Emmeline? Mostly because mommy isn't much of a speller and it looked right when she wrote it down. (Elvis Presley's middle name is Aron - not Aaron, for the same reason)
In fact - it probably IS right. It passes the double letters down another generation and paves the way for Emmie or Emmy as an adorable nickname.
She's a night owl - up all night and sleeping during the day. Mommy is quite tired. Fortunately grandma has a door!!!
Travis is very taken the with whole idea and comes over to pat her cheek and hold her hand frequently. Not too jealous yet - but when the family went out to eat on Tuesday he asked to ride in his stroller - something he hasn't done for quite a while. So perhaps a bit of "don't forget about me".
Of course - that's what Grandma is for!!
