It is funny how old friends and lovers sometimes can stay in touch and other times, no way.

personally...and I know, I'm not the one in the situation...I just think you don't owe him or her anything--not your advice about hepatitis, not your time, not anything. Am I getting this right? You were with him and he left you when you found out you had hepatitis? And now he's with her, asking for advice about hepatitis? maybe I'm not quite understanding. I hope that's the case. But really, if I were him, I would be shocked that you even communicated with me.

like I said, I'm not in the situation, I could be wrong. I've actually been debating the whole "can one stay friends with one's exes?" question fairly often lately, so that's partly why I chimed in. anyway, everyone is different; my belief that it's almost impossible to stay friends is due to my romantic experiences.

Sweetie, Please. This isn't good for you. Try to realize that he was a work of fiction. Who you fell in love with, didn't really exist. You are a strong, brilliant and wonderful woman who believed a liar. It happens to all of us at one point or another. The real point is that you survived the Hep-C AND being suckered by this bastard. You got another do-over. You can do and be anything you want to, now. Please be happy. Big hug to you. Love, J

I wonder if we ever get over the ones we thought were going to be ours forever.
